As part of Johnson City’s annual “Say YES to Fishing, Say NO to Drugs” fishout, which began in 1989, hundreds of rainbow trout will be up for anglers in the Legion Street Pool. Children ages 3-14 (accompanied by an adult) are invited to fish from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the free event.
Poles and bait will be provided, and hundreds of prizes will be given out. Volunteers will prepare the fish for the kids to bring home for dinner.
On Sunday, Oct. 13, the rest of the community is invited to fish the remaining trout for $10 an hour. That event will run from 8 a.m.-noon.
“The fishout is a great way for our officers to engage with the community and encourage children to become involved in positive activities,” Johnson City Police Chief Karl Turner said in a press release.
