One dead, one in critical condition after Johnson City house fire

One person was killed and another was in critical condition after a house fire Tuesday on Spice Hollow Road in Johnson City.

According to Washington County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Leighta Laitinen, the injured person was being flown to Wake Forest Burn Center for treatment of injuries. Investigators from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation concluded that the fire started in a bedroom, but an exact cause was still under investigation.

Embreeville Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Zach Williams said the fire, which started around 9 a.m., was completely out shortly after noon. No further details were released.
