Two people suffered minor injuries after a collision at the intersection of Boone and West Market Streets around 9 a.m. Tuesday, Johnson City police said.

Witness Kevin Spence said he was standing at the corner having a cup of coffee when he saw the wreck involving a sedan and large truck. He said the sedan struck the side of the truck after failing to stop for a red light.

“I was standing over here drinking coffee, and I just happened to look over this way when he came through the intersection and hit him,” he said. “It just happened like that. He never hit his brakes, and I don’t even know if he looked up. It just happened so fast, it was like he never even saw the truck.

“He hit them pretty hard. He bounced off the truck, or maybe at the last second, he turned the wheel.”
