Person killed by train in downtown Johnson City

A person died after being struck by a train in downtown Johnson City just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday

Emergency medical responders were called to the scene of a fatality that had been confirmed by a police officer on the west side of the railroad tracks near the intersection of Market and Buffalo streets.

Three engines pulling the Norfolk & Southern train came to a stop about three blocks south of the intersection where the impact is believed to have occurred.
