Boones Creek Bible Church, 1528 Old Gray Station Road, Johnson City: The morning worship gathering begins with Rand Hummel speaking at 9:30 and 11. Children's Sunday school will meet at 11. Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, 197 Suncrest St., Gray: Sunday morning service at 11. Central Baptist Church, 300 N. Roan St., Johnson City: “Peace in a Time of War” is the title of the sermon for all worship services. Traditional worship services begin at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. The Gathering contemporary worship service will begin at 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall. Clark Street Baptist Church, 200 Clark St., Johnson City: “TEAMWORK: Honoring God with our Bodies.” The evening sermon series “What is God Like?” continues with “God’s Immutability.” Churchwide caroling to the shut-ins will take place Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.

Downtown Christian Church, 335 E. Main St., Johnson City: “Jesus — The Indescribable Gift.” Sunday school at 9:45 a.m., service at 10:45 a.m. Riley Prickett, a Milligan M.Ed. student, will present special Christmas music during worship. DCC continues collecting lotions, tissues, socks, towelettes and other expressions of love for shut-ins and nursing home/assisted living community residents, which will be distributed during Christmas caroling. First Presbyterian Church of Elizabethton, 119 W. First United Methodist Church, 900 Spring St., Johnson City: Sunday school will begin at 9:15 a.m. The 10:30 a.m. worship service will feature the children's Christmas play. At 4:30 p.m., the annual "Taste of First Methodist" will be held in the fellowship hall. Regularly scheduled youth and children's programs will not be held. Following a fellowship meal at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Tim Dills, Jeff Keller and Josh Gibbons from Central Baptist Church will present the theatrical performance of "The Arrival of the Three Wise Men." Unity Church of the Tri-Cities: "Discovering the Child Within." Service will begin at The Carnegie Hotel in the Alfred Taylor Salon (lower level), 1216 W. State of Franklin Road, Johnson City. Watauga Avenue Presbyterian Church, 610 E. Watauga Ave., Johnson City: "Peace in the Wilderness" Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. The Lunch Bunch will be dining at Bella Vita's following Worship. The community is also invited to a Blue Christmas service on Wednesday evening, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2343 Knob Creek Road, Johnson City: “The Wonder of Angels” is the Annual Christmas Cantata Sunday. Sunday school begins at 9:15 a.m., followed by morning worship with the cantata presented by the Chancel Choir at 10:30. Special events and sermons

Live nativity scene: “Experience the true meaning of Christmas at The Living Nativity at Harrison Christian Church on 2517 Browns Mill Road in Johnson City.” Guests will be immersed in the experience of Bethlehem’s Holy Night as they are surrounded by farm animals, including three llamas. The Christmas story will be read as actors illustrate the events of that first Christmas. There will be photo opportunities and light refreshments provided. The event will be held one night only on Dec. 15 from 6 to 7.

Gray UMC Women’s Ministry: The women's ministry of Gray UMC, 4 G's, will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Our theme this month is Snowmen and our menu will consist of favorite breakfast foods you serve on Christmas morning. Beth Hall will bring our December message and you are sure to receive a blessing from it. For those with small children, we provide a nursery. Combined Christmas Sermon: Boones Creek Christian Church and Crossroads Christian Church will present “The Worship of Christmas.” Celebrate with the churches on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. at Crossroads Christian Church, 1300 Suncrest Drive, Gray (next to Daniel Boone High School) and on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. at Boones Creek Christian Church, 305 Christian Church Road, Gray (beside Cracker Barrel). The worship of Christmas is full of passionate, worshipful music that will provide the meaningful moments to create your Christmas celebration this year.
