Local seekers need not search low and high if they’re looking for an event to learn more about spirituality and mysticism.

For about 30 years, the Tri-Cities Metaphysical Study Group has been holding events centering on spiritual and metaphysical healing.

Now, the study group, along with Coptic Fellowship International, is getting set to hold its 2018 Southern Conference, bringing together hundreds from across the country to a three-day event that will teach attendees more about “health healing, spirituality and how to live a life of abundance and prosperity,” according to organizer Peggy Fitzgerald.

The annual conference has been described by organizers as “one of the South’s largest metaphysical spiritual events,” and will feature healing services, spiritual alignment, astrological readings and numerous guest speakers discussing mysticism and metaphysical philosophy.

Events will begin April 27 and continue until April 29 at the Holiday Inn, located on West Springbrook Drive.

Though attendance is free, each service costs about $50 to $90, with the exception of $25 aura readings by Laura Kaye.

“In terms of consciousness, it’s like opening yourself up and not lamenting yourself with your thoughts, beliefs, perceptions and faith. It frees you up from expectations,” Fitzgerald said of the conference. “People who are interested in expanding their mind with new thoughts and experiences are the people who take this seriously.”

Fitzgerald said the event is open to anybody who arrives with curiosity and an open mind.

“It's not a religious thing, it’s a spiritual event. We accept all people, no matter their religious affiliation,” Fitzgerald said.
