The Washington County Heritage Fair is returning for year two in May in Jonesborough.

This year’s fair will focus on education, teaching and the preservation of county heritage. The event will also feature a three-part event that will include a fifth-  through eighth-grade student heritage poster competition, a living history timeline and heritage organization exhibits and presentations.

In 2020, the Jonesborough Genealogical Society is celebrating its 30th Anniversary. As part of the group’s anniversary celebration, the society, along with many partners, decided to extend the event over two days, with more than 70 students having worked to research local history, family history and preservation/conservation projects.

I0n addition, over 20 cultural and heritage organizations participated in the organizational exhibits and presentations, as well as 12 living history timelines full of living history professionals. The event saw 240 people pass through the Jonesborough Visitors Center.

The event will take place on Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9, in Jonesborough. The fair focuses on education, teaching, and preservation of county heritage.
