ELIZABETHTON — Keep Carter County Beautiful is partnering with the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department for the Third Annual Beautification Project along the Tweetsie Trail in Elizabethton.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 14, starting at 10 a.m.

Three locations on the Tweetsie Trail have been chosen for planting trees. The planting will begin at the westernmost location and move east down the Tweetsie Trail toward downtown Elizabethton.

The first planting will take place on the Tweetsie Trail at the corner of Watauga and East Doe Streets, next to Big John’s Closeout store.

The second planting will be on the trail at F Street in back of Dino’s Restaurant.

The final planting for the day will be on the Tweetsie Trail at the corner of Hattie Avenue and Cedar Avenue, along the Elizabethton Police Department’s car impound lot.

To further beautify the Tweetsie Trail, the group will be planting shrubs, trees and mulching. Volunteers are needed to bring shovels, wheelbarrows and rakes. After the event there will be a group pictures and selected gifts for the participants.

The holes for the planting will already be excavated by the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department.
