Tweetsie Trail tree planting changed to March 14

ELIZABETHTON — Spring may be only a few weeks away, but with cold weather in the forecast for this weekend, the Keep Carter County Beautiful tree planting on the Tweetsie Trial has been move back a week.

The tree planting will now take place on March 14 at 10 a.m. All other details will remain the same.

Keep Carter County Beautiful is partnering with the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department for the Third Annual Beautification Project along the Tweetsie Trail in Elizabethton.

KCCB and the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department have designated three locations on the trail for planting the trees. The plantings will begin with the westernmost planting site and move east down the Tweetsie Trail toward downtown Elizabethton.

The first location is the corner of Watauga and East Doe Avenue, next to Big John’s Closeout Store.

The second location is F Street in back of Dino’s Restaurant.

The third location on the trail is the corner of Hattie Avenue and Cedar Avenue along the Elizabethton car impound lot.

To further beautify the trail, KCCB will be planting shrubs, trees and mulching. Volunteers are needed to bring shovels, wheelbarrows and rakes. After the event there will be a group pictures and selected gifts for the participants.

The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department will have the holes pre-dug for planting.

The Keep Carter County Beautiful Board meeting for March has been changed to March 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Carter County Courthouse.
