ELIZABETHTON — Keep Carter County Beautiful and its founder, Ed Jordan, were both recognized at the state level for the years of hard work and accomplishments in improving the environment of the county.

Jordan has been working hard for several years to combat the litter problem in the county, promote the county’s recycling program, and helping to spruce up the community and its walking trails. Jordan has enjoyed the help of a dedicated band of volunteers in accomplishing the work. Local businesses and the governments of the Elizabethton and Carter County have also supported the local effort.

Jordan’s efforts were recognized when he attended the 2019 meeting of the Tennessee Department of Transportation/Keep Tennessee Beautiful Biennial Conference and Awards of Excellence Luncheon at the Nashville Airport Marriott last month. He was awarded the Martin L. Kennedy Award for Outstanding TN Keep America Beautiful affiliate coordinator. With this award, Jordan received a $1,500 grant to further promote Keep Carter County Beautiful’s efforts.
