He said a nearby neighbor called him about what she said sounded like a loud crash last night at the church. When Bess went to go check it out, it turned out to be extensive wind damage from Friday night’s storm, which ripped off the church’s roof.
“Someone who lives about a quarter mile away said they thought a car ran into it because it sounded like a large crash or something,” he said. “She said, ‘Something happened here.’”
“The roof came off and water was coming through the ceiling.”
Bess said nobody was hurt and community members nearby have since been helping with cleanup efforts.
