Ridgeview Elementary celebrates last day of school with drive-thru

Staff Report • Updated May 26, 2020 at 8:41 PM

For the final time this school year, families of Ridgeview Elementary School students drove through the school’s car line on May 22. Teachers greeted them with summer care packages and words of encouragement as educators, parents and students exchanged bittersweet farewells.

According to the school, Ridgeview teachers and students met the challenges posed by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) this year and completed the academic year by teaching and learning in various formats, finding innovative ways to support and encourage each other.

“Many unanswered questions loom regarding next school year and the changing landscape of education as the country continues to deal with COVID-19 as well as shifting governmental, health and safety guidelines,” the school said in a press release. “One thing is certain, however: Washington County teachers and students will continue to find ways to connect, share knowledge and overcome any challenges ahead — together.”
