The first is a Memorial Day weekend fishing tournament that is open to all Carter County youth, ages 9-18, whether or not they are 4-H members. There is no cost to participate and the contest runs from Friday, May 22, to Monday, May 25. Participants can fish any body of water anywhere. Any bait may be used. All state and local fishing laws must be observed.
Competition will be by photographs taken of the biggest fish. Pictures must show the fish and a measuring board or tape with the head of the fish laying to the left. Photographs without the measurement shown will not be entered into the contest.
Winners will be selected in four categories: largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish and trout. Ribbons will be mailed to the winners in each category.
Photos must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Monday. Photos can be texted to 423-220-6661, or by emailed to [email protected]
The other event is the Academic UN-Conference, which is a virtual college experience for any sixth- through eighth-grader. The YouTube link for the event is https://youtu.be/rZZAabWruOY.
