Travis Thompson, directors of attendance at the school system said it is not just the flu which has led to the closure of the five schools in the system on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“There has been a lot of different things, from the flu to stomach virus, to things that mimic the flu,” Thompson said.
While the schools are closed, the system’s cleaning personnel will be busy, Thompson said. Sanitation systems like Clorox 360 system will be scouring each school, focusing on such common areas as keyboards, desks and chairs.
“Those systems have been very effective in the past in sanitizing key area,” Thompson said.
The decision to close the schools was not based on just student attendance numbers, Thompson said. High rates of absence with faculty and staff have been a factor.
Schools will start back on Thursday.
