Jonesborough to throw party for new school

Community members are invited to a celebration for the new Jonesborough K-8 school from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 at the McKinney Center.

An announcement from a town spokesperson said the party was for volunteers, parents and community members who supported the planning and approval of the new school.

During the program, community leaders and members will update attendees on the school’s progress so far and the plans for the kickoff of the Jonesborough school project.

David Crockett’s Madrigal Singers and Jonesborough Elementary School’s physical education class dance unit will perform.

Community members will be able to take part in a hand-print project provided by the McKinney Center.

Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public. For more information call 423-753-1010.
