Red Flag Campaign at ETSU to raise sexual violence awareness

Contributed • Oct 19, 2019 at 6:17 PM

The lawn outside Nicks Hall at East Tennessee State University will be covered with red flags next week when the Red Flag Campaign takes place on campus.

This annual national campaign brings awareness to relationship and sexual violence and teaches students how to be active bystanders who say something when they see or hear something.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, students are encouraged to stop by the campaign station near the Pride Walk between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to learn more about what to say or do if they see relationship or sexual violence “red flags,” view the flags others have placed, and fill out flags of their own.

The Red Flag Campaign is coordinated at ETSU by the OASIS (Outreach and Advocacy: Sexuality Information for Students) Program in the Counseling Center.

For more information, contact Kate Emmerich, senior counselor and OASIS program coordinator, at 423-439-3333 or [email protected] For disability accommodations, call the ETSU Office of Disability Services at 423-439-8346.
