Financial Aid experts will be available to assist students in completing the 2020-21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Other ETSU departments, including Admissions and the Scholarship Office, will be present to answer questions from students and their families. The university will also provide refreshments, prize drawings and giveaways.
The FAFSA is a student’s application for all federal financial aid, as well as the starting point for many state and school aid programs. Many funding opportunities – including the Pell Grant and HOPE (Lottery) Scholarship – are not available without a completed FAFSA.
“Filing a complete and accurate FAFSA is critically important,” said Catherine Morgan, director of the Office of Student Financial Aid. “Our staff, as well as other ETSU departments, are here to help you navigate this process.”
Those planning to attend the FAFSA Frenzy should register online by Oct. 21 at www.etsu.edu/finaid/events.php.
Students, as well as parents, should bring the following items to the FAFSA Frenzy:
• Social Security Number
• Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
• 2018 federal income tax returns, 2018 W-2s, and other records of money earned (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool)
• Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
• Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
Current ETSU students are also welcome to attend, and will also have two other opportunities to receive assistance filing the 2021-21 FAFSA Oct. 23 and 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first floor of the Sherrod Library.
