The walk will take place on the ETSU campus in the practice field near the Basler Center for Physical Activity and is hosted by the Department of Counseling and Human Services in the Clemmer College of Education.
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and natural disasters combined each year, yet suicide prevention does not receive anywhere near the funding as other leading causes of death. ETSU will help raise funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention by accepting donations for the organization until Dec. 31.
Check-in and registration for the event will begin at 8:15 a.m. on Oct. 26, and the walk is scheduled to start at 9:45 a.m. Registration for the walk will be free and open to the public, but online registration will close Friday, Oct. 25, at noon. However, anyone can register for the walk in person on the day of the event.
Sponsors for this event include ETSU’s Department of Counseling and Human Services, Ballad Health, ETSU Family Medicine, TriCities Nissan, ReVIDA Recovery, Creekside Behavioral Health and the Jake Vinyard Foundation.
