The Town of Unicoi will be concluding its free “Movies in the Park” summer film series this Friday, August 9, at 7 p.m. with a “Back-to-School Blowout” designed to give the children one last “splash!”

The Buffalo Creek Park at the Bogart-Bowman Cabin in Unicoi will be the backdrop for this family-friendly event that will feature a slip-n-slide, water shooters, crazy sprinkler and water balloons, as well as kid-friendly food and an “incredible” movie at dark!

“I’m excited to see everything the programs department has put together,” said Mayor Johnny Lynch. “I Think it’s the first time we’ve had a slip-n-slide so this should be fun!”

Guests are encouraged to arrive hungry as pizza will be sold for $1 per slice or $6 for a whole pie. Tasty treats will also be available to make the night even sweeter.

“We’ve had a great summer movie series this year and we wanted to close it all out in a way that would give the children some crazy fun before school starts back next week,” said Communications and Programs Director Ashley Shelton.

The festivities begin at 7 p.m. at Buffalo Creek Park (5012 Unicoi Dr.) and the movie will start at dark. Visitors are also encouraged to bring towels for drying off children and blankets or chairs for the movie as seating is not provided.
