ETSU to host free concussion education event

East Tennessee State University will host a free concussion education event on Saturday, June 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the ETSU Interprofessional Education and Research Center (Building 60), located on the Mountain Home VA campus.

Sponsored by the ETSU Office of Professional Development, the event will provide a team-based approach to concussion management and recovery.

Speakers include staff from ETSU Athletics and Disability Services, as well as Nutrition, Speech-Language Pathology and Physical Therapy faculty members from ETSU’s College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences.

This course is approved for awarding up to .375 continuing education units for physical therapists and physical therapists assistants licensed in Tennessee. The course is also approved by the Board of Certification for awarding up to 3 Category A continuing education units for certified athletic trainers presented in conjunction with the Mountain Athletic Trainers’ Society.

The event is free and open to everyone and would be beneficial for parents, coaches, athletes, school administrators and medical professionals. A continental breakfast is included.
