While restaurants and retail services throughout the first and second floors of the center will not be operational, Assistant Vice President of Student Services Sam Mayhew said the campus Market Place cafeteria, located on the third floor, will still be operational from 7 a.m. to midnight as renovations continue.
Mayhew said Sodexo has also been prepared for the logistical challenge of having fewer food options on campus by expanding their menu and renovating the kitchen over the summer.
“Construction always brings opportunities for challenges to work through. Our main dining hall on the third floor is open already. We are fully operational on the meal plan side of things,” he said, adding that students will be allowed to enter via the exterior ramp off Seehorn Road.
“Sodexo is looking to expand the menu and will be able to produce more with the kitchen that was renovated over the summer. Students will have plenty of access to their meal plan and retail opportunities on campus.”
Other changes include food retail at the campus Center for Physical Activity, located on the west side of the campus. The Subway located near Warf Pickel Hall has also been renovated to serve more students.
The campus Starbucks will now be located in the Treehouse near Brooks Gym, where the Buccaneer food trailer can also be found. In addition, students will also have access to the Steak n’ Shake food truck, located next to Sherrod Library across from Governors Hall.
“It’s been a team approach to look through everything and provide students a quality experience. We’ve tried to think of everything to make it a success,” Mayhew said, adding that Einstein Bros. Bagels’ library hours will be extended until midnight.
