The Daniel Boone High School Marine Corps JROTC has been selected as a Naval Honor School for the region comprising eight states in the southeastern U.S.

The Honor School Award distinguishes Daniel Boone as one of the top 10 percent of MCJROTC programs in Region 6. Criteria for selection are based on a unit’s record of competitive activities, commitment of the cadets to school and community service, and results of an annual inspection by the program’s national headquarters.

This is the 16th consecutive year Daniel Boone’s JROTC program has been recognized as a Naval Honor School.

Cadet Captain Tashina Roberts was also named as the recipient of the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement. The award designates Cadet Roberts as the top MCJROTC Cadet in the southeastern U.S. The Legion of Valor is an organization of Medal of Honor, Navy Cross and Distinguished Service Cross Awardees. Cadets are selected on the basis of academic excellence, leadership potential, and service to the school, community, and nation. Cadet Roberts is Daniel Boone’s fourth recipient of the award.
