NASHVILLE — Tennessee authorities said a woman was indicted on charges of bribing a police officer and then a judge.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said 48-year-old Sonya Hawkins Nale of Pikeville was indicted on two counts of bribery of a public servant Monday by a Bledsoe County grand jury.

TBI said agents found that in September, Nale offered to pay an arresting deputy to drop charges against another person. TBI said Nale then offered to pay a judge to drop the same charges.

It was unclear whether Nale had an attorney.
