But if you want something special, something you can’t find online or at Walmart no matter how hard you try, there is an answer: Elizabethton Small Business Saturday.
Just like the merchandise in each of the downtown stores is unique to that store, so the way the store celebrates Small Business Saturday is also unique.
Cathy Shoun, president of the Downtown Business Association and proprietor of the Dressing Room,, said each stores decides what the sale in their store will be. For some, it is a percentage off selected merchandise. Others have special items given away. Some offer food treats.
There are also no rules as to when the downtown stores will be open. Shoun said many will be opening before 10 a.m. and closing later than 5 p.m.
To get more information ab out your favorite store’s plans, it is probably best to simply call that store and ask about its plans.
Small Business Saturday is a nationwide event that celebrates the importance of small businesses in the national and in the local economy. It also celebrates the way such stores can provide that special gift that can’t be found in the big box stores.
