ELIZABETHTON — The Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library has been active in helping its patrons find jobs through the years, and will continue to do so on Oct. 3 with a job fair. But the library is also sponsoring a volunteer fair those high school and college students who need to perform volunteer work.
For those in need of a job, the library will be hosting a job fair on Oct. 3 from 1-4 p.m. for manufacturing positions at Mapes Piano String Company. A brochure for the fair promises "lots of jobs at $9 to $10 an hour and regular pay increases.” The brochure also promises an immediate interview.
The job fair will be conducted by AtWork Personnel Services and Mapes Piano Strings.
The library's Volunteer Fair will be held on Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. Although many young people need to earn volunteer hours, the fair is also for the library's older patrons who are retried but would like to stay active.
The library also believes there is a third category of people who could benefit from the fair. Those are the group of good citizens who just want to help their community with the extra time they have.
