The Tennessee Valley Authority Boone Dam project team delivered a busload of toys to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program at the U.S. Armed Forces Reserve Center in Gray on Friday.

“It’s our biggest turnout so far in this year’s toy drive,” Lance Cpl. Reece Horbury said.

The Marines unloaded 38 full toy boxes and numerous bicycles from the full-sized school bus that’s used to transport employees to and from the Boone Dam job site.

“Our team really opened up their hearts this year,” TVA Construction Manager Kevin McMillon said. “In the past, we have loaded up a short bus. This year, our goal was filling a full-sized school bus and we even surpassed that.”

Some of the extra bikes and toys that could not fit into the bus were carried along in pickup trucks. McMillion said that TVA employees, along with all of the contractors working on the Boone Dam project, joined together in making the toy drive such a success.

Toys will be distributed Dec. 13 and 14. For more information, contact [email protected] or call 423-302-0013.
