It happened again on Monday night, when the car club held its November membership meeting. This time, the club donated approximately $14,500 from the proceeds of its annual cruise-in donations and the fees and donations from the club’s annual car show.
A little less than half the amount ($6,000) went to the club’s favorite charity, the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program. The club not only makes the donation, but shops for the boys and girls on the designated Christmas Angels. Club members did that Friday morning at Walmart. In all, the club members and other volunteers bought warm clothing, other essentials and toys for 105 children.
Other charities that were remembered by the club on Monday night included the Elizabethton/Carter County Boys and Girls Club, the Imagination Library, Isaiah 117 House and the Children’s Evangelical Service. The club also donated $300 to each elementary school library in the Carter County School System and the Elizabethton School System.
The membership meeting also made some changes its leadership. Eddie Brumitt is the new president, succeeding Ron McCloud, who will now serve as treasurer.
