Boy Scouts of the Sequoyah Council were out en force on Saturday, walking door to door to collect food donations for people in need in their communities. In the council’s Buffalo Mountain District of Washington, Carter and Unicoi counties, the Food City store on State of Franklin Road served as a rendezvous point for Johnson City troops to relay their donations to Good Samaritan Ministries and the Haven of Mercy. District Commission Ralph Moats said that elsewhere around the district, the collected food went to pantries supported by the Jonesborough Ministerial Association, the Gray Ruritan club, Johnson City’s First United Methodist Church and many others.
