Students from the Science Hill Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy will be hosting a charity basketball game on May 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. inside Science Hill’s new gym. The contest will be between Johnson City Schools’ teachers and Johnson City First Responders. The entry fee is $3 with all proceeds going to support the Johnson City Homeless Education Program.

“The Johnson City Schools Homeless Education Program helps students and their families who are in situations that are very difficult,” said Science Hill senior Clara Wood, who is a member of the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy. “This outreach helps the students stay in school and assist their families when possible.”

The Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy is a national high school leadership program focused on impact thorough action. The program engages students in monthly Leader Labs with a focus on important leadership skills that they will use to create student-led Community Impact Projects. The “Battle on the Hill” is the community project for this year’s Science Hill group.

“We thought this would be a good way to bring the community together to help support homeless youth in our school system,” said Science Hill senior Tiara Harvey.
