ELIZABETHTON — The new Isaiah 117 House for children who are just entering the foster care system has opened to serve Carter County.

The house has been established mostly with the help of volunteers and charitable contributions. After its successful opening earlier this year, it is striving to be self-sufficient by continuing to seek grants.

In one of its newest efforts, the Isaiah House is seeking to win the 2019 Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Award. The Isaiah House is one of five finalists from the Atlantic Region, with the winner receiving $75,000. The runner-up will receive $15,000.

A portion of the selection process will include an internet voting contest, which is taking place from Sept. 8-30. The steps are:

• Download the Chick-fil-A One app at www.chick-fil-a.com/One.

• Set up an account.

• Click on “rewards” button at the bottom of the screen.
• Click on “news” button at the top of the screen.
• Click “vote now.”
• Choose the Atlantic Region.
• Vote for the Isaiah 117 House for the 2019 True Inspiration Award.
While the award would be used for the only Isaiah 117 House, the founders are hoping to extend their service to Washington County with another Isaiah 117 House there. A kickoff event for the campaign for Washington County will be held Thursday, Sept. 20, at Grace Fellowship Church from noon to 1 p.m.
