Covered Bridge Park will feature barbecue, blues and brews this Saturday.

ELIZABETHTON — How can you go wrong? Raising money for the restoration of a sentimental favorite in downtown Elizabethton by selling barbecue, craft beers and some cool blues music.

Last year’s BBQ, Blues & Brews in Covered Bridge Park is back at the park on Saturday, once again selling bons temps along with the three B’s to raise bucks to renovate the 90-year-old Bonnie Kate Theater. The second annual event will be held from 5-9 p.m. at the park in downtown Elizabethton, just off East Elk Avenue at the Doe River.

There are two tiers of tickets for the event and they are available online for a $5 discount on each ticket.

The BBQ & Blues tickets are $20 online. That ticket allows entrance to the festival to listen to the blues and includes samples from some of the region’s top purveyors of barbecue.Tickets purchased at the gate on Saturday will be $25.

The BBQ, Blues & Brews tickets are $30 online and include admission to listen to the blues, samples from the barbecue vendors and three beer tickets with valid identification. Those tickets at the gate on Saturday will be $35.

In the event Hurricane Florence schedules an appearance for Saturday evening, the festival may be rescheduled for a less stormy weekend. The Johnson City Press will print an announcement in Friday or Saturday’s edition if word is received In time from the event’s organizers.
