This year’s kickball theme was “The Battle of the Babies,” effectively honoring each team’s captains, who are both in their final trimester of pregnancy.
Each team got into the spirit of the selected theme, choosing pregnancy-inspired names like In Bootero (a play on “in utero”) and Nacho Bebe (a play on “Nacho Libre”). Twenty-five team members, both local and remote, gathered at the TVA Credit Union Park, home of the Johnson City Cardinals Minor League Baseball Team, to get down to business.
Ultimately, Team In Bootero claimed an impressive victory with a final score of 11-1.
In addition to a fun-filled evening, this year the company wanted to not only create a fun outlet for their staff, but also support a local charity.
The Coalition for Kids , a nonprofit organization with a mission to help children in need, was a clear choice to receive the donation of $3,000. These funds will be used to support their complex and far-reaching STEAM initiatives and transportation for children to and from the C4K campus, as well as delicious food for each meal of the day.
Ntara CEO Jeff Morris provided C4K Executive Director Randy Hensley with a presentation check after the competition ended.
Morris said of the event, “Ntara is excited for the ability to give back to our local community. Both Ntara and The Coalition for Kids have an extensive 19-year history in Johnson City, and we’re happy to support and encourage this organization to continue to grow as we have over the years. It’s an excellent program and we’re happy to be help in any way we can.”
