Participating employers will include Foam Products of Erwin and other local manufacturers, the U.S. Census Bureau and Bath Fitter of Johnson City. The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development will also have its Mobile American Job Center on site.
Available positions will include event specialist, chemical compounder and general laborer with wages as high as $20 per hour.
Recruiters for the 2020 Census will be looking to fill 30 positions in Unicoi County before the census kicks off in April. Openings include clerical positions, field managers, mappers and other positions with flexible hours and pay starting at $13.50 an hour.
A complete list of participating employers is available at the town website, unicoitn.net/events.
Businesses wishing to participate may also register at the website. Any Unicoi County business may participate at no cost. One table and two chairs will be provided for each business. Space is limited and preregistration is recommended.
Unicoi Communications and Programs Director Ashley Shelton said the town was pleased to be able to support the community and its businesses with Monday’s event.
“I know the internet makes hiring or job hunting a little easier these days, but there’s just not a replacement for good old-fashioned, in-person networking,” Shelton said.
More information about the job fair may be obtained by contacting Patricia Bennett by phone at 423-735-0517 or by email at [email protected]
The visitors center is located at 106 Unicoi Village Place, just off Exit 32 of Interstate 26.
