An equipment donation to East Tennessee State University from a local industry will benefit students studying engineering technology.

The Keysight Technologies four-channel analog oscilloscope was donated to the ETSU College of Business and Technology by TEVET, a supplier of precision test instrumentation, embedded solutions, and life science products for the defense and aerospace industry. This will be the university’s first Keysight oscilloscope, and it will be used by ETSU and students in the electrical engineering technology and biomedical engineering technology programs for testing circuits.

“Partnerships like this are essential as we prepare students to serve in the engineering technology industry and we are grateful to Tracy Solomon and TEVET for this generous gift,” said Dr. Keith Johnson, chair/professor of Engineering Technology, Surveying and Digital Media.

“We support the future of our community through investing in its youth,” said Tracy Solomon, CEO of TEVET. “TEVET sees the value in providing for the local schools and universities through the advancement our communities and the creation of more professional jobs in the area. Since its inception in 2004, TEVET has experienced tremendous growth and good fortune. TEVET passes on its good fortune to the communities it serves through increasing local employment, supporting local businesses, donating to educational programs at both high school and collegiate levels, and much more.

“TEVET strives to make positive impacts for its community, its members, and the future of our area. TEVET is excited to assist in the development of ETSU’s new engineering program with the donation of the oscilloscope. With the latest industry tools and knowledge, students can certainly change the future for themselves and others around them.”

Founded in 2004 by Solomon, a third generation service-disabled veteran, TEVET is a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned and HUBZone small business headquartered in Greeneville. TEVET is a leading supplier of Test and Measurement, Life Sciences Chemical Analysis, and Embedded Computing equipment and solutions to federal prime contractors and the United States government.
