ETSU’s Micah Scheetz tied the game at 63 with a little over a minute to go, but the Lady Mocs were fouled on the next possession and made a pair of go-ahead free throws.
After the Bucs failed to convert on the other end and were forced to foul, Chattanooga put the game away to earn a regular-season sweep of its Southern Conference rivals.
Scheetz led ETSU (9-20, 4-10) with a game-high 21 points and three assists. E’Lease Stafford joined Scheetz with 21 points, while Shynia Jackson finished with 14 points.
The homestanding Mocs had a 33-6 advantage in free-throw attempts. Bria Dial led Chattanooga’s scoring output with 19 points while Abbey Cornelius totaled 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Eboni Williams and Lakelyn Bouldin each scored a dozen.
Overall, Chattanooga held the advantage inside, outscoring ETSU 32-20 in the paint and winning the rebounding battle 35-27.
ETSU, the No. 6 seed in the Southern Conference tournament, will play third-seeded UNC Greensboro on Thursday at 5:45 p.m. in Asheville.
