AAC quarterfinals: Buffs too much for Bluefield

KINGSPORT—Aaron Levarity scored 19 points, hit nine of his 12 shots from the field and harvested 13 rebounds in Thursday night’s late game from the Appalachian Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament, ushering Milligan to a 74-65 quarterfinal conquest of Bluefield at the MeadowView Center.

Tyler Nichols contributed 13 points and Tyler Faulkenberry 12 on four 3-pointers for the Buffs (22-7), who will meet Montreat in Friday’s 8 p.m. semifinal.

Desean Green added seven assists to the win.

The Rams (17-12) were paced by Niquan Cousins, who registered a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds. Jermiah Jenkins hit for 11 points.

With the score tied at 37 early in the second half, the Buffs generated a 14-4 run that Jacob Cawood book-ended with a 3-pointer and two-point bucket.

The Buffs eventually led by 14 points on two occasions.
