KINGSPORT — Milligan College senior forward Aaron Levarity earned Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors, junior Tyler Nichols made the All-AAC second team, and junior Mike Featherston made the All-Defensive team to headline postseason recognition of the Milligan College basketball teams.

The AAC announced the awards Wednesday evening at the annual awards banquet.

Levarity, Nichols and Featherston were joined by a handful of other Buffaloes to receive postseason acknowledgement by the AAC. Chase Phillips earned a spot on the AAC Champions of Character team, and Desean Green, Nathan Hastings, Alex Jones, Levarity, Nichols and Bo Pless made the AAC Academic All-Conference team.

Milligan women Mackenzie Raizor and Sarah Robinson were first-team All-ACC picks. They were also on the All-Academic Team.

Andi Lamb was on the second team, the Champions of Character team and the All-Academic team, and Hannah Wyrick was on the All-Freshman Team.

Levarity averages 19.4 points and 12.6 rebounds per game this season, ranking third in the league in scoring and the only player in the league to average double figures in rebounds. He recorded 21 double-doubles, which was eight more than anyone else in the AAC.

At the national level, Levarity ranked No. 3 in rebounds per game, No. 8 in field goal percentage (59.3) and No. 17 in total blocks (41).

Levarity earned All-AAC first-team status for the second year in a row after making the NAIA All-America team as an honorable mention in 2017-18.

Fifteen Milligan women made the All-Academic Team. Joining Raizor and Robinson were Cassidy Anderson, Sydney Breeding, Emma Kate Brown, Teal Davis, Kasey Gordon, Kaely Gose, Lamb, Rebecca Maxwell, Megan Pietrowski, Savannah Raizor, Hannah Rodgers, Lexi Weddle and Cali Weddle.

With the regular season wrapped up, Milligan will refocus for the upcoming conference tournament, scheduled to start Thursday at the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center in Kingsport. The Buffs will first face Bluefield College in the quarterfinals Thursday at 9:15 p.m. in the last game of the day.

The Milligan women open at 3:30 p.m. against Bluefield.
