Elizabethton kept its playoff hopes alive with a 3-1 victory over Greeneville on Tuesday night.
The two teams close out their schedules on Wednesday night with Kingsport (34-33) and Johnson City (34-33) tied for first, a half-game ahead of Bristol and Elizabethton.
The first- and second-place finishers advance to the postseason — the Twins can’t win the division — and meet in a best-of-three first-round series.
Ruben Santana got Elizabethton headed in the right direction on Tuesday, pounding a home run to lead off the game.
Fidel Castro answered with a game-tying homer in the third, but the Twins’ half of the fourth produced an RBI double off the bat of Max Smith and Trevor Jensen’s run-scoring single.
Four Elizabethton pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts. Ryan Shreve (2-2), who took over for starter Brent Headrick after two innings, totaled a half-dozen Ks in four innings of work.
Tyler Beck struck out Greeneville’s ninth-inning side for his first save.
Seth Gray batted 2 for 3 with a double for the Twins while the Reds got a 2-for-3 showing from Castro.
