BURLINGTON, N.C. — Johnson City was held to just five hits in a 1-0 Appalachian League loss to Burlington on Friday night.

Raffy Ozuna went 1 for 2 with a walk for the Cardinals (28-27), who continue to lead the West Division lead by a game. Jhon Torres had the team’s only extra-base hit, a double.

The Royals (34-22) pitching staff combined for 10 strikeouts with Angel Zerpa earning his sixth win of the season. He went six frames and struck out five.

Striking out seven batters over four innings, Hector Soto (0-1) fell on the wrong end of his first decision after Kevon Jackson scored on a Cardinals throwing error in the second inning. The run was unearned.

Francisco Justo hurled three shutout frames for the Redbirds, then Tyler Peck tossed a spotless eighth.

Burlington was limited to six hits, with Maikel Garcia batting 2 for 4. William Hancock tripled and David Hollie socked a double.
