Lott ended his evening with two hits and four RBIs, with three coming on his third home run of the season with one out in the ninth inning.
His blast was part of an onslaught of four home runs for the Cardinals as Aaron Antonini, Zach Jackson and Chandler Redmond each had a long ball. Redmond ripped his eighth homer of the season — a two-run shot — in the opening frame.
Malcom Nunez and Kevin Vargas accounted for three hits apiece for Johnson City, which proved terrific with runners in scoring position — going 5-for-8 with only four runners left on base. The Redbirds totaled 13 hits.
Michael YaSenka (2-1) had a brilliant outing, pitching six shutout innings and allowing just five hits to record the victory. Wilfredo Rivera came in at the start of the seventh and did not allow the Rays another hit in the game.
Brett Wisely had three of Princeton’s five hits — all singles.
The Cardinals will go again at Hunnicutt Field on Wednesday with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
