Harrah, Smith pitch Happy Valley past Flames

Michael Harrah and Hunter Smith combined to pitch a two-hitter and strike out 11 batters on Saturday, propelling Happy Valley to a 10-2 conquest of the FCA Flames.

Both Warrior pitchers gave up one hit and a run. Harrah registered the victory by throwing the first four frames. He registered six strikeouts against two walks before Smith went the final three, totaling five Ks and one base on balls.

The run charge to Smith was unearned.

Jacob Absher batted 2 for 3 and scored three times for Happy Valley, which broke up a 1-1 tie with six runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Caden Ward tripled in a 1-for-2 effort and Dylan Willis contributed two RBIs.

Tiny Day/Red Edmonds Classic

Grainger 5, Sullivan East 3

GREENEVILLE—The Lady Patriots struck for three extra-base hits but only four hits overall as they succumbed to the Grizzlies.

Chelsea Sams tripled while Kylee Wolfe and Katelyne Loudy each accounted for a double.

Sullivan East 15, Unaka 3

GREENEVILLE—Hannah Scott (3 for 3), Chelsea Sams (3 for 4) and Katelyne Loudy (3 for 5) totaled nine hits for Sullivan East, which got a combined nine RBIs from Emma Timbs and Kylee Wolfe.

Three runs each were supplied by Loudy and Sams, who tacked on two RBIs and collected her 200th career hit on a fourth-inning single.

Timbs (5 RBIs, 2 runs) and Wolfe (4 RBIs, 3 runs) both homered and doubled. Jillian Shackelford (2 runs) and Emily Perry (2 RBIs) also contributed two hits apiece. Shackelford pitched all five innings.

Erika Potter socked two doubles and drove in two runs for the Lady Rangers. Kiki Forney tripled.

Unaka 7, South Greene 4

GREENEVILLE—Kailey Wilson’s third-inning grand slam staked the Lady Rangers to a 6-0 lead and enough cushion to finish out the win.

Unaka’s Kiki Forney was good for a double while teammates Madison Pierce and Sadie Shoun each had two runs. Shoun pitched a five-inning complete game, yielding two earned runs.

South Greene was led by Lexi Miller at 3 for 3. Anna Willett and Jenna Gallihar added two hits apiece, with Willett also collecting two runs and a pair of RBIs.

Friday

University High 8, West Greene 4

GREENEVILLE—Avery Kibelbek banged out two hits and pitched the Lady Buccaneers to victory, striking out six batters along the way.

Ryleigh Owen had two hits of her own and UH teammate Katy Stancil chimed in with three RBIs. Emily Morgan and Catie Leonard each contributed two runs.

Hope Thatcher tagged a solo home run for the Lady Buffaloes.

Unaka 13, Chuckey-Doak 2

GREENEVILLE—Madison Pierce, Sadie Shoun and Kailey Wilson spearheaded a 15-hit Unaka assault with three hits apiece. Shoun struck for three RBIs, Wilson contributed two and all three players scored twice.

Two of Wilson’s hits went for doubles. Moreover, she held the Lady Black Knights to three hits over four innings.

Erika Potter singled, doubled and drove in three runs. Tayla Potter tallied two RBIs.
