Cyclones best Rebels for second straight night

KINGSPORT — The Elizabethton Cyclones baseball team took another Three Rivers conference clash from Sullivan South with a 9-0 victory over the Rebels.

Matthew Dailey got things started off for Elizabethton with a two-RBI double in the first inning. Ashton Wilson got in on the action with a single to left that drove in another run.

Dailey was also strong on the mound for Elizabethton, allowing six hits and striking out four.

Evan Carter had a single, a double and scored three runs for the Cyclones. Bryson Rollins had a double and also scored three runs.

James Seto reached base four all four times for the Rebels and Shawn Reed went 2 for 3.

University High 5, Unaka 1

ELIZABETHTON — The Bucs got a key Watagua Valley conference road win over the Rangers behind the arm of Kaleb Meredith, who limited Unaka to just five hits while striking out eight.

Carter Pollock went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and two RBI.

Alex Garcia finished with a pair of hits for Unaka while Harley Berry recorded the Rangers’ only RBI.

Sevier County 12, Cherokee 2

JEFFERSON CITY — The Chiefs were limited to just two hits as they dropped a nonconference game to the Smoky Bears on Wednesday night.

Noah Webb finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead Sevier County.

Four different Cherokee pitchers saw time and none of the lasted over two innings.

Sullivan North 2, North Greene 1

BAILEYTON — Braydon Wilhoit was tough on the mound for the Golden Raiders, throwing a complete game one-hitter in a Watagua Valley victory over the Huskies.

Dale Potter and Hunter Dingus had the RBIs in the sixth inning that pushed Sullivan North over the top.

Daniel Boone 10, Cherokee 0

Nickolette Ferguson pitched a one-hit shutout en route to a Lady Trailblazers’ Big 7 conference win over Cherokee along with six strikeouts. She also hit a home run in the game and went 2 for 3 with two RBI.

Savannah Jesse and Cameron Sykes also went deep for Boone (27-5, 4-1) — who racked up nine hits on the evening.

Megan Ackerman went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI and runs scored as well for the Lady Blazers.

Cherokee’s only hit came off the bat of Haley Vigil.

The other Lady Chiefs’ runner to reach base was Jacey Moncier on a walk.

Sullivan East 11, Elizabethton 2

ELIZABETHTON — Kylee Wolfe had quite the offensive performance with two home runs including a grand slam in the sixth inning. Altogether, she finished 2 for 4 with six RBIs and two runs scored.

Chelsea Sams was also clutch with a pair of doubles and four RBIs on the night.

Wolfe was also great in the circle for the Lady Patriots, going the distance and allowing seven hits while striking out four.

Maddie O’Quinn, Maggie Johnson and Kira Dillard each had two hits for the Lady Cyclones.

Sullivan Central 20, Sullivan North 3

BLOUNTVILLE — The Lady Cougars were all over their county rivals in the non-conference victory behind four-RBI days from both Jasmine Sheffield and Ashley Steadman.

Sheffield also had a solid day in the circle, allowing four hits and fanning seven batters.

Alexa Chandler was also good for three RBI for Central. Eight different Lady Cougars recorded a RBI in the game.

Kendall Nash and Presley Crawford each finished 1 for 3 with a RBI.
