With the tying run at third base, the East Tennessee State baseball team held on for a 6-5 victory over Radford on Tuesday night at Thomas Stadium.

After seeing a seven-game winning streak snapped in a loss to Georgetown two days earlier, the Bucs (22-6) got on the board early with three runs in the first inning on a two-run double by Ethan Shelton and an RBI single by David Beam.

ETSU added a run an inning later on Jackson Greer’s RBI single.

Another run was added in the seventh when Kyle Richardson reached on a fielder’s choice and Ethan Cady scored. Jake Lyle tripled and then came home on a throwing error for a needed insurance run in the eighth.

Joseph Acosta (1-0), who threw three innings in relief, got the win, while Zachary Kirby got his first save, striking out Radford’s Spencer Horowitz on the final at-bat.

ETSU used six pitchers overall with Colby Stuart getting the start. Hunter Williams (0-1) suffered the loss for the Highlanders. He gave up five hits and four runs over the first 1 2/3 innings.
