Crockett soccer downs Hampton

Dalton Williams had two goals and an assist to lead David Crockett to a 4-1 boys’ soccer win over Hampton on Wednesday night.

John Plaisted added a goal and an assist for the homestanding Pioneers, who led 2-1 at the half. AJ Boyd had Crockett’s other goal. Blake Gentry scored the Bulldogs’ only goal, which tied the match at the time.

David Crockett hosts University High on Thursday at 6 p.m. and plays an in-school game against KACHEA Friday at 1 p.m.

Baseball

Bibb County 11, University High 1

GULF SHORES, Ala. — Brant Hare was the only Bucs player with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. He also got the only RBI on the day for University High.

It was a rough outing for Bucs pitching as three different hurlers combined to give up nine hits and seven unearned runs.

Sullivan East 10, Johnson County 0

BLUFF CITY — The Patriots made quick work of Three Rivers rival Johnson County behind the arm of Luke Hale, who went the five innings with six strikeouts.

Dylan White recorded four hits and one RBI on the afternoon. Perry Casaday and Eli Millhorn each had a home run and three RBIs.

Hale allowed just three hits on the day and hit one batter.

Dobyns-Bennett 9, Philip Simmon (S.C.) 6

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Indians got three doubles on the day from Brogan Beckner, Jackson McDavid and Derick Thurston en route to a nonconference road win.

D-B banged out 12 hits overall and drew nine walks.

McDavid came through with three RBI and freshman Jake Timbes also had a pair of RBI.

Dalton Harkleroad also got in on the action with two RBI.

Matthew Moore went the distance for the Tribe, giving up six hits and six unearned runs. he struck out eight on the evening.

Cherokee 5, Daniel Boone 3

ROGERSVILLE — The Chiefs got two RBI each from JaPheth Curtsinger and Jesse Forgety to come out with a Big Seven conference win over Daniel Boone.

Nick Collins was strong on the hill for Cherokee, going the distance and giving up six hits while striking out four.

Brody Goodman went 1-for-2 for Boone with a two RBI double along with a pair of walks.

Colby Backus also had a RBI for the Trailblazers as he went 1-for-4 on the evening.

Sullivan South 23, Sullivan Central 9

KINGSPORT — A huge 15-run third inning powered the Rebels to a Three Rivers win over Sullivan Central. The South offense churned out 19 hits and it was highlighted by a Chase Bowery home run in the third inning.

Cory Williams got his third win on the season for the Rebels as well. 

Softball

Coleman 8, Sullivan East 5

GULF SHORES, Ala. — Kylee Wolfe went 3-for-3 for Sullivan East — all singles. Katelyn Loudy helped herself out in the circle for the Lady Patriots, going 1-for-3 with a two RBI double, but Coleman was too much in the end.

Loudy was roughed up for 12 hits, seven runs and only three strikeouts.

Grove City (Ohio) 7, Elizabethton 1

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Lady Cyclones outhit Grove City 10-8, but could not capitalize on the opportunities.

Maddie O’Quinn, Maggie Johnson and Hannah Edwards each accounted for two hits for Elizabethton. Autumn Hensley went 1-for-4 and had the only RBI on the day.

Madisun Pritchard picked up the loss for the Lady Cyclones, giving up five runs on five hits and five walks in just over three innings of work.

Elizabethton pitchers did not record a strikeout in the game.
