UH, Science Hill notch non-conference home wins

Brant Hare was 3 for 4 with a pair of runs, Michael Degennero and Carter Pollock each tallied three RBIs and University High subdued South Greene 9-1 on Friday at Thomas Stadium.

Recording six strikeouts over five shutout innings, Kaleb Meredith also batted 2 for 4 and knocked in a pair of runs.

Hare stamped his initials on two extra-base hits, producing a double and triple. Degennero fit a two-bagger into his 2-for-4, 2-run effort and Henry Borthwick accumulated four walks, three runs and two stolen bases.

Pollock also swiped a pair of bags.

The Rebels were limited to four hits, with Luke Myers and Brandon Smith collecting two apiece.

Science Hill 7, Morristown West 5

Matthew Levi went 2 for 2, drove in two runs and walked twice for Science Hill, which also benefited from Jackson Hill’s three RBIs.

Cade McCoy batted 2 for 3 with a pair of runs and Hill turned in a 2-for-4 day at TVA Credit Union Park. Both players socked a double.

Dustin Eatmon allowed one run and notched three strikeouts in a three-inning start for the Hilltoppers. Winner Andrew Miller hurled 1 2/3 innings of middle relief, then Drew Honeycutt recorded the final seven outs to pocket a save.

Blaine Robinson led the Trojans by going 3 for 4. Camden Lovin added two RBIs.

Sullivan North 8, Happy Valley 3

KINGSPORT—Hunter Dingus, Braydon Wilhoit and Cole Bear combined on a three-hitter for the Golden Raiders, striking out 10.

Tyler DePriest banged out three hits while Wilhoit finished with two.

Johnson County 17, Cloudland 0

ROAN MOUNTAIN—Reise Stout and Weston Throop each launched a two-run home run in the first inning, setting the tone for a one-sided Longhorns victory.

Petie Pavusek amassed five RBIs in a 3-for-4 showing.

Mars Area, PA 6, Sullivan East 5

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—The Patriots got a 3-for-4 game from Dylan Bartley in a close out-of-state loss.

Tanner Leffew went 2 for 3 for Sullivan East, which committed four errors and allowed four unearned runs.


FCA Flames 5, Hampton 3

HAMPTON — Alec Gentry struck out seven and gave up three earned runs over six innings as the Flames topped the Bulldogs.

Will Joyner had two hits for the Flames, who took advantage of five Hampton errors.

Hampton freshman Caleb Royston struck out nine over 4 1/3 innings in his first varsity start. Freshman catcher Morgan Lyons had two hits for the Bulldogs.


Johnson County 11, Sullivan Central 2

BLOUNTVILLE—With Ben Howard and Asa Lewis both going 4 for 4, the Longhorns cut loose for 18 hits in part of a Three Rivers Conference double-dip.

Howard doubled, scored twice, had two RBIs and stole two bases. Reise Stout went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs while Petie Pavusek (double, 2 runs), Weston Throop (2 runs) and Ethan Icenhour (2 RBIs) contributed two hits apiece to the victory.

Howard got the job done from the hill, striking out nine batters over six innings. He yielded two runs.

Kaden Grayer’s 2-for-4 effort, including a double, led a 10-hit Central output.
