Boone, Crockett pick up Big Seven wins

Hunter Adams threw 13 strikeouts in five innings and Daniel Boone romped to a 17-2 win over Volunteer in Big Seven Conference baseball action on Monday night.

Colby Backus led the way at the plate with five RBIs. Ben Allen and KC Vicchio each drove in three runs.

Logan Rivers had three hits, while Cade Elliott and Adams each had two hits for the ’Blazers.

David Crockett 13, Tennessee High 7

Grady Cash was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Pioneers over the Vikings. Cade Larkins had three RBIs and scored two runs, while Johnny Loyd and Cody Wheeley each drove in two runs.

Dakota Stout was 4-for-5 and scored two runs, while starting pitcher Luke Adams went 5 2/3 innings to get the win. Wheeley and Austin Hensley closed it out, while Adams and Landon Quillen each scored two runs at the top of the lineup.

Gavin Cross had two hits and scored three runs for Tennessee High. Davis Hall had two hits and two RBIs, while Ryan Gibson also had two hits.

Dobyns-Bennett 12, Cherokee 8

Derick Thurston had two home runs as he and Brogan Beckner each finished with four RBIs in the Indians’ win over the Chiefs.

Jackson McDavid picked up the win, while freshman Jake Timbes came in three innings for relief.

Nick Collins suffered the loss, but helped himself at the plate, going 2-for-4 including a grand slam.

Sullivan South 12, Happy Valley 2

Cory Williams had a no-hitter going with two outs in the fifth inning in the Rebels’ mercy-rule win over the Warriors.

Eli Jennings was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Peyton Stanley finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while Jeffrey Leonard had a home run and drove in two runs. Austin Monds also finished with two RBIs.

Elizabethton 14, FCA Flames 4

Evan Perkins was 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs as the Cyclones blew out the Flames.

Evan Carter was 2-for-3 with a double and triple, and he scored three runs. Cooper Tipton had a double and two runs, while Matthew Dailey and Karson Dillard (2-for-2 with two runs) each tripled.

Will Livingston picked up the win striking out seven and giving up just one hit over four innings before being relieved by Bryson Rollins.

University High 11, Hampton 2

Michael Degennero went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and the Bucs had 11 hits in their win over the Bulldogs.

Brant Hare went four innings to pick up the win and Esau Byrd threw the final three, striking out five.

Kaden Weir and Byrd also finished 2-for-4, while Hare, Henry Borthwick and JP Pealer all scored two runs.

Weston Street and Josh Owens each had two hits for Hampton. Freshman Morgan Lyons pitched four quality innings in his first varsity start.

SOFTBALL

Unicoi County 13, Sullivan East 2

Halie Hawkins went 3-for-3, driving in four runs with a single in the second inning and home run in the fourth as the Lady Devils took the early lead in the Three Rivers Conference standings.

Allee Griffith captured the win allowing two runs on five hits. She struck out for and gave up just one walk.

Carly Kinser was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Cassie Selvage was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Chloe Powers scored two runs.

Katelyn Loudy suffered the loss for East, but also led the Lady Patriots offensively, going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Happy Valley 8, Sullivan Central 4

Abby Holt struck out five and walked three in a complete-game win for the Lady Warriors over the Lady Cougars.

Holt also helped her cause by going 3-for-4 at the plate. Macy Puckett was also 3-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored, while Maddie Lingerfelt was 3-for-4 with a RBI. Allie Grindstaff was 2-for-4, while Kadie Havner had two RBIs and Laura Rice scored two runs.

Sydney Snapp went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead Central. Jasmine Sheffield suffered the loss.

Tennessee High 3, Dobyns-Bennett 1

The Lady Vikings’ Nikki Duncan hit a solo home run and Bailey Lamb held the Lady Indians in check until the final inning, giving up three hits in the win.

Kirsten Judd knocked in D-B’s only run on a bases-loaded grounder. Morgan Riffle had nine strikeouts for the Indians.

Unaka 18, Hampton 0

Sadie Shoun and Macey Williams combined on a no-hit shutout as the Lady Rangers made quick work of the Lady Bulldogs.

Madison Pierce was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored, while Tayla Potter was 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs.

Other leaders were Kendall Bare going 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Taylor Shanks 2-for-2 with three RBIs and Alana Parsons 2-for-2 with three runs scored.

Volunteer 12, Sullivan North 0

Allie Chandler, Kadance Bryant and Cindy Allen combined on a one-hit shutout as the Lady Falcons rolled against the Lady Raiders.

Aliyah Crawley was the offensive leader, going 3-for-4, while Jersey Wines and Allie Chandler each went 2-for-3.

Jefferson County 7, Cherokee 0

Catelyn Riley threw 12 strikeouts and gave up just two hits as the Lady Patriots shut out the Lady Chiefs. Riley also had three hits and three RBIs. Santanna Hall and Ashley Whitley each had two hits for Jefferson County.
