ELIZABETHTON — The Elizabethton Twins used their power to remain atop the Appalachian League West Division standings.

Chris Williams homered twice and drove in six runs to help the Twins outslug the Kingsport Mets 16-10 on Tuesday night at Joe O’Brien Field.

The Twins pushed their division advantage back to 1½ games one day after Kingsport swept a doubleheader to draw within a half-game of the lead.

Williams hit a three-run shot in the third inning off Nate Peden and a two-run homer in the fourth off Allan Winans. Colton Burns homered, doubled and singled, scoring three runs and driving home a couple for the Twins (25-18).

Pedro Garcia (3-3) was the winner after relieving starter Luis Rijo and throwing 3 1/3 innings. Zach Neff (4-1) closed out the win.

Peden (1-4), the starter for Kingsport (25-21), took the loss. He pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up eight runs — all earned — on eight hits. He didn’t strike out a batter and walked two.

The K-Mets’ Ranfy Adon homered and doubled and also drove in six runs.

The teams close out the series Wednesday night. First pitch is set for 7.
