Watauga Valley Art League honors Johnson City Press

The Watauga Valley Art League recently presented the Johnson City Press with a collage of artwork depicting sights in Johnson City to honor the newspaper’s commitment to community events and the arts.

Eighteen league members contributed sections of the work: David Kramer, Don Gotterbarn, Angie Shepard, Linda Campbell, Judy Donley, Mary Kathryn Brown, Judy Cable, Jim Stagner, Deborah Hubbard, Sunny Tanner, Wayne Ritchie, Joyce Manuel, Mary Hooper, Linda Loffmin, Briana Moore, Barbara Jake Wilson, Barbara Jernigan and Gail Myers. Framing was provided by Mike Matthews. The effort was coordinated by June Simmons, publicity chairperson.

The presentation took place at the Sycamore Shoals State Park Visitors Center, where the Watauga Valley Art League’s Summer Art Show continues through Sunday, July 28. The center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1-4:30 p.m.
