In 1939 the school was moved into a new building constructed on Dalewood Drive, and the old building was sold to John McFall, who donated it to a church.

When all was said and done, more than 5,000 gallons of water were used to put out a blaze that sparked in an outbuilding Wednesday afternoon behind the residence at 250 Ralph Hoss Road near Lamar.

The Washington County Commission's Budget Committee, following Mayor Dan Eldridge's lead, decided Wednesday not to sanction adding a more than $220,000 windfall to the county schools' budget due to concerns it would place the county at a disadvantage.
