Buffs run away in second half to beat Bluefield

Milligan College never trailed and used a 22-8 run over the final 10 minutes of the second half to keep pace in the Appalachian Athletic Conference with a 67-49 win over Bluefield College.

Austin Perry is a right-handed pitcher who comes most recently from the nationally ranked Kentucky Wildcats team. Jonah Owenby comes to Milligan from the University of South Florida.

Mickey Woods scored 15 points in the second half and Milligan came back from 14 down but the second half rally fell short for a second straight day in an 81-71 to Bridgewater College on Saturday night in the final game of the Don Glick Classic.

Buffs have all the makings of a champion

The Buffs are off to a 10-2 start which includes a league-best 5-1 record in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. They have beaten perennial league powers Tennessee Wesleyan, Bryan and Union.

McCleod scored 21 points, including 11 in the last six minutes, as Milligan College knocked Bryan out of first place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference basketball standings with a 69-62 victory Saturday at Steve Lacey Fieldhouse.

December rolled in like March Madness for the Milligan men's basketball team. Coach Bill Robinson's Buffaloes upset No. 16 Union on the road on Monday, only to suffer a cold-shooting overtime home loss to Truett-McConnell two nights later.
